Mengintip Penghuni Hutan: Inside the Sorong Nature Park

Sorong Nature Park represents lowland tropical forest which is situated in the suburb of Sorong City, West Papua, Indonesia. This 945 ha forest becomes a nice place for tourists for inhaling fresh air in the forest, seeing green leaves and tall trees, as well as listening the birds singing on the branches and twigs of Damar (Agathis labilardieri) and Merbau (Instia bijuga).

Often, we can see the Bird of Paradise, Maleo (Macrocephalon maleo), Kakatua Putih Jambul Kuning (Cacatua galerita triton), and Nuri Merah Kepala Hitam (Lorius lory) in the forest. Anyhow, some interesting animals and plants also can be seen in the nature park, such as needle dragonflies, butterflies, blue tail monitor (Vanarus doreanus), mushrooms, orchids, etc.

Please enjoy!

  1. But, in the forest you can deeply breath the fresh air as much as you want while closing your eyes, hear the bird singing, smelling the leaves, soil and woods. How do I miss these things =)

    1. Do forget that in the ocean especially when you’re diving on coral reef, you can deeply breath the fresh air as much as you can. It’s even much fresher than the one in the forest (filtered and compressed by the compressor :p). You can close your eyes and meanwhile you can listen to snapping shrimp’s shots, ‘fly’ like a bird in the forest of the sea, and see many wonderful colors that you can’t find them in the forest :p
